What to Expect

Three hours to pause, unplug from the daily hustle, and master a new craft. Step into our workshop and become both designer and printmaker!

• Welcome & Arrival
  • We'll meet at the venue 15 minutes before the start. Relax and enjoy a complimentary welcome drink while we get everything ready for you.
• Linocut Basics
  • We'll begin with a brief introduction to the history of printmaking, materials, and techniques. You'll prepare your design, practice test carvings, and then dive right into creating!
• Carving & Printing
  • Your canvas is a block of linoleum. Using specialized carving tools of varying shapes and sizes, you’ll carve out your original design (or choose from our templates).
  • Once your printing block is ready, we’ll roll on professional block printing ink and use firm pressure to transfer your design onto the finished piece.
• Take It Home
  • You will walk away with 2 finished pieces—a custom hand-printed tote bag and an art print on paper, perfect to keep for yourself or give as a thoughtful gift.

The Art of the Mirror Image, Step by Step

After a quick introduction, we'll get straight to work. First, choose your motif—draw your own design from scratch or pick from our curated stencils. Then, carve into the linoleum using specialized tools. Whatever you cut away remains the color of the background, while the raised surfaces take the ink. Keep in mind that your final print will appear in reverse!

Our workshop is all about the joy of making and having something tangible to show for it. By the end, you'll print your artwork onto premium heavyweight paper as well as a durable canvas tote bag. You leave with two one-of-a-kind pieces: frame your print for your wall, and take your stylish designer tote out on the town.
