What tufting is
Tufting is the technique used to make rugs: a handheld tufting gun shoots yarn through a stretched cloth, building a dense, soft surface on the front. The gun does most of the work – you simply guide it along your design like a marker and swap yarns to change colour. Our ArtTuft workshop runs in Prague, takes about four hours and costs CZK 2,490 per person. The gun, yarn, cloth, frame and the instructor are all included, and you leave with a finished piece.

The whole workshop takes about four hours and is designed for complete beginners.
- Welcome – Arrive 15 minutes early, pick a welcome drink and get seated at your frame.
- Technique and safety – The instructor shows how the gun works and how to handle it – no prior experience needed.
- Your design – Your chosen motif is projected onto the cloth, so you do not have to draw anything freehand.
- Tufting – You fill in outlines first, then the colour areas. Progress is visible immediately.
- Finishing – The pile is trimmed level, the back is sealed and the edges are finished so it will not fray.
- Take it home – You leave with a finished rug of roughly 30–40 cm the same day.
